First of all, I greet my dear precious readers! As you all know, Halloween has come; or is it Halloween every day? I can hear some of you say "the second one." Then, good news! We are on the same side! This day, I want to write about a person that has ineffable value in my heart. He is known for his mad ideas, incredibly imaginary world, and movies engraved in our minds. I do not know you, but Halloween means watching Tim Burton movies for me. I also like watching spooky horror movies; however, so little things can give the same excitement as wandering in Tim Burton’s world of wonder! For these reasons, I listed my favorite Tim Burton movies -wait for it-, and the first one is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! I start with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as it is the first Tim Burton movie I have ever watched. I always like the message that this film gives. It is absolutely more than a movie for me. If you feel the same, I strongly recommend you to read the rest.
I cannot wait to start with "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"! This incredible masterpiece of Burton’s was released in 2005. The film’s main stars are Johnny Depp as the owner of a worldwide known chocolate factory, Willy Wonka; Freddie Highmore as the poor but proud Charlie Bucket; Helena Bonham Carter as the mother of poor Charlie, Mrs. Bucket. The film starts with a heartbreaking background story of a pauper family, The Buckets. It is a crowded family with seven members, including a mother, a father, a little son, and his grandmothers and grandfathers. So needy are they that they cannot even repair their broken roof or buy another cabbage to make a soup! Unlike the other families who can probably go nuts in this situation of poverty, they get attached to a bond of pure love. You can see on little Charlie’s face that he cannot live his childhood as he deserves like the other kids in town, despite the efforts that he makes so as not to afflict his family. This detail points out such a big heart in a tiny package. However, every story includes miracles, and this miracle of Charlie drags him to a once in a blue moon adventure!
One day, it is announced by Willy Wonka that the ones who find the five golden tickets are invited to Wonka’s factory to be the inheritor of this magical chocolate and candy empire. On hearing the news, people all over the worldcompete in greediness to getchocolate bars to find the five golden tickets, unlike Charlie since thischild's only aim is to taste one of those chocolates of Wonka on his birthday. Barely does Charlie's family find money to get one of them. No sooner does Charlie rip the chocolate package, then he becomes one of those millions who try to find the golden tickets but nothing without disappointment. However, in every darkness, life houses silver linings for hopeless souls that are about to lose faithfulness, sohave Charlie. Later, he hits the lotto by finding one on the second attempt. Charlie and Grandpa Joe make their way to the chocolate factory. There were other four kids, full of deadly sins, waiting to be the next inheritor or inheritress! The first kidis Violet Beauregarde (Anna Sophia Robb). This ten-year-old kid breaks a record for chewing a piece of gum throughout a year. She is mostly known for her greed and conceit. On the other hand, this greed and arrogance bring her end. She turns into chewing gum and ends up being a slender man-like creature. The second childis Veruca Salt (Julia Winter). Veruca represents waywardness and selfishness as she is her father’s little princess who wants everything to be hers as well as the chocolate factory. Nevertheless, she has no idea that wanting something means considering the consequences and risking everything in her case. Who knows that the squirrels can bethat revengeful? The third one is the gourmand Augustus Gloop (Philip Wiegratz). This child gormandizes everything he gets, including the chocolate river. Unfortunately, by this attempt, he does not only becomes the first eliminated opponent but also Oompa-Loompas’ target. The fourth one is the technology addict Mike Teavee (Jordan Fry). This boy only cares about video games and has an enormous rage for the world -probably- because of the war games he plays. He assumes that heis the most intellectual one in the group. As he is such a clever boy that he is stuck in television, in which the cavemen live because he attempts to try the machine of teleportation. The last one is our fallen angel Charlie Bucket (Freddie Highmore). Of course, he is the winner of this competition -like tour. He is the incarnation of humility and purity. He enjoys his adventure with Grandpa Joe, while the others try to eliminate each other. He has all the characters of a leader. If you watch or watched the movie, you can share the same opinions as me. Surprisingly, he rejects Wonka's offer kindly and leaves the factory. I mean, how many people can do this? The answer is simple. Since Charlie has everything he needs and wants, for example, a family full of love, he does not have an intention to pursue money or fame. Spirituality is superior to materiality to him. At first, Wonka cannot fully understand what he means due to his problematic childhood tragedies. It is not easy to teach love to the ones with empty hearts. On the other hand, in the end, he teaches how special it is to be a family to Wonka. Wonka embraces love and to be loved thanks to Charlie and make peace with his past. He joins the Buckers as well as they join him in his factory.
What an incredible story! I have told you that this movie is more than a film. It is one of a kind in terms of script, shooting, cast, and so on. It does not only please the audience but also leaves a smile on our face. You want to teleport to that place of course, not like Mike Teavee, and live in this magical world, taste the delicious chocolates, candies, gums, meet Wonka as well as Oompa-Loompas and sing with them. It leaves a mark on our hearts and makes us believe in magic! However, this world also has magical sides at least for me. So, do not feel sad about it. Now wipe your tears and please share your comments with me because everything matters! Have a hopeful day!
